Fiber and Regenerative Systems Consulting

“A super connector”
- according to Kim Master, journalist for Edible Ojai

Interested in scheduling a consulting session or training, online or in-person? Curious how to partner with our Fibershed chapter or producer to develop fiber and/or work toward locally grown (and produced) textiles or clothing? Looking for resources?

So Cal Fibershed Director Lesley Roberts has more than 30 years experience as a systems thinker, creative strategist, cultural producer, and community builder. Threading together a degree in art history, a professional life in marketing (storytelling), and a fascination with place, she has developed a social practice that fosters creativity and its innate connection to the natural world, that brings together craft, grassroots organizing, alternative economic systems, and a cross-disciplinary approach to art, cultural discourse, and regenerative processes. She is an advocate for a more conscious inclusion of regenerative practices within arts education, architecture and design projects, manufacturing, and consumer behavior.

She is available to consult with brands, artists, and producers on communications and regenerative strategies; the challenges and early stages of creating a regional supply chain; best practices from the farm-to-yarn-to-textile journey; and how to talk about regenerative agriculture and processes to the public, with farmers and ranchers, or with your management team and Board. She is also available for coaching and strategic plans.

The So Cal team is available to consult on fiber and textile systems, as well as to collaborate on the sourcing and production of local wool and alpaca fiber.

Please email hello@socalfibershed.org to book a consulting appointment.

Fiber Pool

We are looking for brand or artisan partners who would be interested in purchasing our initial run of colored Merino wool and a Suri & Huacaya alpaca blend, from fleece sourced in Ojai and Somis in Ventura County in 2023. We have just under 65 lbs of 2-ply bulky, about 30 lbs of the pale and 35 lbs of the dark. Drawdowns are available; fiber is on cones and large skeins.

This is a bouncy fiber with a yummy hand, perfect for sweaters and warm So Cal nights. Please reach out if you’re interested! We’d love to partner with a brand for a super small capsule collection and co-leverage some marketing attention. Does this sound like you?!

We are also underway with Fiber Pool 2.0 - the fleece is headed to the mill already! – and are looking for designers or brands to collaborate. If you would like to get in at the yarn development stage, please reach out soon. Spring shearing will come up quickly, and we’ll want time to discuss the right fibers for your project.
