Raglan Sweater Workshop

  • Stitch Salon 2525 West Washington Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90018 United States (map)

Join our So Cal Fibershed friend Jaqueline Kyoda, the creative mind behind Huemane, for a series of workshops on raglan sweater making.

In this series, you’ll cut, customize, and sew in a communal space (Stitch Salon, also owned by a friend of So Cal Fibershed!). Jacqueline will provide guided instructions on how to work from a paper pattern, take measurements, make some adjustments to customize it to your body, and sew your sweater! We’ve pasted her Why below, please link through the button below for more information and to sign up.

Why: Making your own clothing is extremely gratifying! Having the ability to make adjustments according to your measurements is a lifelong skill to continue to develop and keep. Adapting the basic skills of garment making will not only give you the pleasure of taking ownership of your wardrobe, and choosing your own material; it will also make you want to keep what you’ve made (helping prevent further waste). It will also provide you with it’s own challenges, which will also give you greater appreciation to understand what it takes to make a garment.

Course runs for three hours and will be offered three times. You’ll pick the date when you check out on Huemane’s site.
