Shaniko Wool Company

Jeanne Carver, an Oregon-based rancher who has received industry awards for her ethical farming practices, is part of a growing movement to make high quality wool available in the United States. She is featured in an article recently published in Fast Company magazine, writing about her partnership with Janessa Leoné. Carver’s family’s ranch was established in 1871 and has been operating continuously for 152 years. “After decades of fashion brands taking their supply chains offshore, there’s now an assumption that you can’t make things here in America,” Carver says. “That assumption is wrong.”

It’s encouraging to learn about more brands and more ranchers working toward regenerative practices, and even more encouraging to read about it in the mainstream business media. Here’s hoping these stories will continue to encourage more of us to support the movement.
